about

The second half of the 80's was a period of musical discoveries and incessant experimentation with improvisation, composition and dadaist audio collages.

This collection of early and apocryphal works digs deep into the archives of written scores and worn cassettes. Originally written or recorded in the years 1984-1989, some of the rarest and finest tunes and most remarkable tape salads are here presented more or less in chronological order.

Most of the old written scores have been rearranged. A few original cassette recordings have been remastered or remixed and sometimes overdubbed with new material or, in some cases, reconstructed from scratch. Back in the 80's, the recordings were made by ping-ponging one track at a time on a double-deck cassette recorder in the legendary Studio Roxta.

Stylistically this album is a divergent affair—and still, lots of material from the period has been left out because it differed even more from the rest. The Apocryphs are not so much a retrospective trip of nostalgia as they are a contemporary statement that sums up a few threads of a life-long project in a work that could have been the first chapter of a musical autobiography.

Update: A cassette with a selection of 25 tracks is released on December 1, 2020.
